About Us

The daughter of an art teacher, Taplynn developed an appreciation for art and design at an early age. Growing up, she planned to move from rural western New York to the city and to become a designer but circumstances steered her to a career in nursing. During her thirty years in the healthcare industry, Taplynn never lost sight of her goal to become a designer. Renovating and restoring historical properties became not only a creative outlet but also an opportunity to learn firsthand about the process of design and construction. In 2003, Taplynn began pursuing her lifelong passion for design by enrolling in the prestigious New York School of Interior Design. Attending classes at night and on weekends for ten years, Taplynn obtained her degree with honors. Shortly thereafter, Taplynn left a full-time corporate position to form Ridgewood Interiors, LLC.

Taplynn’s combined experience of interior design and healthcare offers an extraordinary perspective on the important role a home plays in your psychological, emotional and physical wellbeing. An expert in Universal Design and Aging in Place, her projects reflect an understanding of her clients’ priorities, lifestyles and budgets while incorporating aspects like curbless showers, no-touch faucets, and non-slip flooring to make a home healthier, safer and more user friendly.

Taplynn’s work has been featured in Design, The ASID New York Metro Magazine. She is honored to have been selected by the New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), as the winner of the Silver Design Excellence Award in the category of Residential Universal Spaces and by Moen as a winner in their national Thoughtful Design Contest. In addition to being an allied member of ASID, Taplynn is a member of the Rehabilitation Nurses Association. She is a frequent speaker on the topics of Universal Design and Aging in Place.
